The World Is A Mirror

With lessons aplenty

Consider this statement:

The rest of the world is a mirror so that you can more fully see yourself.

It isn’t meant to be a literal thing – these sorts of statements hardly ever are. But it’s probably worth thinking about…

You see yourself in a mirror

And I’m serious about this aspect. You see yourself in the world, both the parts you’re happy to see and the other parts…

It goes back to my earlier post “Complaining About Complaining” – in quite a few cases people complain about what they themselves are guilty of doing!

Wouldn’t it be better to see yourself in the world and learn who you are?

Seeing beyond the visual

Let’s not get too hung up on the visual implications of a mirror either…

Just because I’ve said the world’s a mirror doesn’t mean you can’t “see” the full range of your own senses and emotions – out in the world.

Beauty and anger, fluffy and shrill.

The fullness of your world played out in the world.

Your response

And yes – let me also say that some of the things you see in the world might not be present within yourself.

Perhaps there’s a different opportunity.

Perhaps the opportunity is to see how you react to a situation – so that you gain insight into your own world.

What you’re interested in

If you’re only interested in some specific areas – perhaps dollars and cents, favors and obligations, or days and weeks – you might not “see” these in the world. But if you look harder, I bet you’ll notice the resources all around, the social give and play of the micro community, and the passing of time.

And that might help you better understand the world you live in.
